The #200PlusClub

So what is the #200plusclub? It’s a group of athletes, fitness professionals, and fitness enthusiasts who currently weigh over 200lbs. It’s not all about a number on the scale.  We look beyond our dress sizes. We focus on being a healthy and whole individual.

I first saw this hash tag from Master Trainer and Owner of Powerhouse Physique, Anowa Adjah, who had 2 twin boys via C-Section, is 5’10 and weighs 213 lbs. She’s also Nigerian (NAIJA BIG UP!). I think it’s very important to understand that a healthy body looks differently on different people. Here are photos of various olympic athletes and what healthy looks like for them. Here is a thought-provoking article from the Huffington post about what it means to be curvy athlete.

As members of the 200 plus club, here are our mantras:

We work out at least 3x a week.

We eat right.

We work out to fight against genetic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.

While we are working out, we are decreasing our risks of every type of cancer.

We also work out to improve our mental health too!

Working out lowers our stress levels and helps us sleep better at night.

If we lose weight, cool. If we don’t lose weight, that’s even better because our bodies are super hot.

I wanted to take time to shout out to some other fitness professionals who are curvy and are KILLING IT!
